Information about cookies, local storage and functional technologies used by Costa Rica Hub.

Last updated: July 29, 2026. Costa Rica Hub is prepared to use Google AdSense together with Google’s certified consent management platform. When advertising and the consent message are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, identifiers and similar technologies to deliver, limit, protect and measure ads and, where there is a legal basis and applicable consent, personalise them. Costa Rica Hub currently sets no first-party audience-analytics cookies.
A cookie is a small file a website can store in a browser. Local storage is a different technology, although both can retain information on a device.
Functional storage used
The dollars-and-colones converter uses the local key “crhub-exchange-rate-v1” to retain for about one hour the date and public buy/sell rates obtained from Costa Rica’s Ministry of Finance. This avoids repeated requests and improves speed.
The local profile uses “crh-local-profile-v1” to optionally store a name, language, theme, interests, marked destinations and itineraries with their notes and budgets. The visual preference also uses “crh-theme”, and the planner may retain a draft under “crh-trip-planner-draft-v1”. This data remains on the device and is not transmitted to Costa Rica Hub.
The exchange-rate record contains no entered amount, name, email or account identifier. Other calculators operate in page-session memory, and Costa Rica Hub does not receive the entered values.
Strictly necessary technologies
Hosting, DNS, CDN or security providers may use technical identifiers or strictly necessary cookies to deliver content, distribute traffic, prevent abuse or maintain availability. When enabled, AdSense may use additional technologies for ad selection, frequency, fraud prevention and measurement. Personalisation depends on region, settings and consent choices.
Images are delivered from images.thecostaricahub.com. Google Maps is not requested until you press “Show map”. Links to the Ministry of Finance, SINAC, Google Maps, social networks and other sources lead to external services only when you open them; their own policies then apply.
Deleting or blocking storage
You can clear cookies and site data through browser privacy settings. To remove the profile, theme and cached rate, clear thecostaricahub.com data or the local keys named above. You may export the profile JSON first; the converter may request the public rate again on a later visit.
Blocking cookies or storage may affect features and advertising, but editorial content should remain available. When the consent platform is enabled, you can reject, accept or manage the available purposes and reopen those choices from “Privacy settings” in the site footer. The privacy and cookies pages do not load Google’s advertising tag.
Advertising consent and changes
Google AdSense is the identified advertising provider. Its tag is enabled only after the message in Google’s certified consent management platform has been configured and published. In relevant regions, that platform requests and communicates choices before non-essential technologies are used for advertising. This policy will be updated if other providers, non-essential analytics or new purposes are introduced.
