Privacy Policy
How Costa Rica Hub handles personal information, technical logs and data submitted by email.

Last updated: July 29, 2026. This policy explains what information Costa Rica Hub may process when you visit thecostaricahub.com, use its tools or email us. It applies to the Spanish and English versions.
Costa Rica Hub is an independent information website. The local profile is an optional browser feature and does not create an account in our systems. The site takes no payments and offers no registration forms. It is prepared to integrate Google AdSense and Google’s certified consent management platform for ad delivery, frequency control and measurement when those services are enabled; Costa Rica Hub currently uses no first-party audience analytics.
Responsible party and contact
Costa Rica Hub is the website’s editorial responsible party. For privacy questions or requests to access, correct, update or delete information you sent us, email [email protected]. We may request reasonable information to verify identity and locate the communication.
Information that may be processed
If you email us, we may receive your address, name, message, attachments and associated transmission information. Do not send passwords, banking data, complete case files, medical information or other sensitive data unless indispensable.
Hosting, content-delivery, security and image-storage providers may generate technical logs such as IP address, date and time, requested resource, browser, operating system, referrer and security events. When AdSense is enabled, Google may also process identifiers, IP address, device and browser information, approximate location, visited pages, consent choices and ad interactions to deliver, limit, protect and measure advertising, according to settings, applicable consent and Google policies.
Calculators process entered values in your browser and do not transmit them to Costa Rica Hub. The currency converter requests only public Ministry of Finance rates and temporarily stores those rates—not your amount—in local browser storage.
If you use the local profile, the browser retains the name you enter, language, theme, interests, marked destinations, itineraries, notes and budgets. The planner may also temporarily retain a draft on the device. Costa Rica Hub does not receive or synchronise that data. JSON exports and printable documents are generated directly on your device, and imports are processed inside the browser.
Google Maps remains blocked until you press “Show map”. At that point your browser connects directly to Google and may transmit technical request data. The “Open in Google Maps” link also leads explicitly to that external service.
Purposes and basis
Email information is used to answer questions, manage corrections, assess editorial proposals, protect rights and retain reasonable evidence of communication. Technical logs may be processed to deliver the site, detect abuse, solve failures, maintain security and comply with law.
Processing is limited to the disclosed purpose, the person’s request, legitimate operation and security or an applicable legal duty. If a future activity requires informed consent, it will be requested beforehand.
Providers and international processing
We may rely on hosting, CDN, DNS, security, email, object-storage and advertising providers. Google provides AdSense and may process data in other countries under its infrastructure, policies and legal mechanisms. Each provider should receive only information needed to provide the service or comply with law.
The site links to external resources and uses the Ministry of Finance public API for exchange rates. Once you leave Costa Rica Hub, the external site’s policy governs its collection. We do not sell or rent personal data.
Retention and security
Communications are retained only as reasonably needed to reply, follow up, document a correction, protect rights or meet a duty. Provider logs follow their operational settings and retention periods. Data will be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed unless law or legal defence requires retention.
We apply reasonable and proportionate safeguards, but no email, storage or Internet transmission is absolutely secure. Contact us promptly if you believe you shared risky information or identified a site-related incident.
Your rights
Costa Rican Law No. 8968 recognises rights to access, correct or delete personal data and control its transfer. You may ask what personal information we retain, correct inaccuracies or request deletion where applicable. Requests are free and handled within the legal period, subject to identity, scope, exceptions and applicable duties.
If you believe a request was not properly handled, you may approach Costa Rica’s Data Protection Agency, PRODHAB, through its official channels.
Children
The site provides general information and is not designed to deliberately collect children’s personal data. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent unnecessary personal information may contact us for review and deletion where appropriate.
Policy changes
We will update this page before adding accounts, forms, newsletters, first-party audience measurement, payments or other new processing, or when advertising use changes materially. The date above identifies the current version. Publishing new text alone will not replace consent where consent is legally required.
